Exploring the multifaceted layers of her identity, Mar Figueroa, an Ecuadorian-born painter now based in New York, delves into these complexities through her surreal autobiographical paintings.

 

Caught between the contrasting worlds of North and South America, Mar reveals the nuances of living in a liminal space. As she explores the influence of her environment and cultural background on her inner world, she pays homage to her Andean roots, emphasizing the depth of its rituals and traditions.

 

She received her BFA at the Rhode Island School of Design and shortly after graduating launched her art and design studio. In 2020, she was awarded by Forbes 30 Under 30 in Art & Style.
