We're so excited to share that Angela Fang Zirbes was selected as the recipient of the Virreina Artist Residency, Loma Serena, through her participation in Future Fair. Selected by curators of the ACOMPI curatorial program, Fang Zirbes will spend this September in San Gil, Santander, Colombia, experiencing the rural Colombian landscape and creating new works that will be featured in a group exhibition with fellow artist residents.
ACOMPI curators remarked: "We're thrilled to select Angela Fang Zirbes as the inaugrual recipient of the Future Fair Artist Prize. We admire the humor and worldbuilding crouched in Angela's work and are excited to see how a month in Santander, Colombia, impacts her practice."
Virreina is a dual space for artistic exploration and exhibition making that operates simultaenously on the computer and the countryside. Their programs address the relationship between the rural and the virtual in contemporary artistic practices. During the four week residency, Loma Serena, Fang Zirbes will travel with other residents from around the world in the Colombian country-side, engaging in activities that will connect her artistic research practice to the territory.
Fang Zirbes's works are on view in our Future Fair booth from May 1 - 04 at the Chelsea Industrial center, alongside works by Melody Tuttle and Genevieve Cohn.
