Coming Soon: Jeff Canham "Garden Variety"

Jeff Canham in his studio

Hashimoto Contemporary is pleased to present Jeff Canham's upcoming solo show "Garden Variety" at our San Francisco location.

Jeff is an artist, designer, sign painter, and amateur woodworker based in San Francisco. Exploring traditional sign painting techniques combined with woodworking sculptures, "Garden Variety" will present a lush space of handcrafted cactuses, house plants and collaged signs inspired by Jeff's travels.

Canham grew up in Hawaii, studied graphic design at the University of Oregon, and afterward became the Art Director of Surfer magazine in Southern California. In 2005 he moved to the Bay Area and began apprenticing at New Bohemia Signs where he learned the traditional art of sign painting. With a BFA in graphic design and a very unofficial degree in hand lettering from New Bohemia, his colorful typographic compositions combine both new and old techniques.

Check out photos below from our recent studio visit with the artist as he prepares for his solo exhibition - all photos were taken by Shaun Roberts.

On view: November 6th - November 27th

Location: 804 Sutter St. San Francisco, CA
