Dan Lam has created her largest sculpture to date for the Nasher Sculpture Center's Nasher Public project. The eight foot piece entitled Subtle Alchemy, is essentially a scaled up version of Lam's poured polyurethane works. The large scale sculpture features a steel armature, sculpted styrofoam, epoxy clay, resin and chameleon color shifting automotive paint. Lam collaborated with digital artists Geoff Case and Eric Trich who created projected imagery and mapped it to the three-dimensional form of the sculpture in order to create "a sense of the piece transforming before your eyes from solid to liquid."
The installation is on view at the Nasher Sculpture Center in Dallas, Texas from April 29 through May 23rd, 2021.
