CONTEXT: Art Miami 2018
CONTEXT Art Miami, along with the 29th edition of Art Miami, commences on December 4th, 2018 with the highly anticipated Opening Night VIP Preview. CONTEXT Art Fair is a proven destination and serious marketplace for top collectors to acquire important works from the leading international galleries representing emerging and mid-career cutting-edge works of art.
Hashimoto Contemporary is pleased to announce our participation in Context Art Miami. The gallery has participated in Miami’s fairs since 2013, and we are looking forward to returning for our second year with Context.
Our booth will exhibit new and recent works from Crystal Wagner, Peter Gronquist, and Joel Daniel Philips.
Crystal Wagner is an installation artist whose massive, immersive universes bring on sensations of space junk, organic matter, waves, forested enclosures and synesthetic vibrations. Says Wagner, "Each installation, and each drawing is a different conversation I am having. The gesture is the introduction, the first impression, and everything else tumbles out.” Crystal Wagner’s interest in combining 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional forms, alternative use of materials, and hybrid approaches to printmaking have led to her artwork being exhibited extensively. Her exhibition schedule has her actively growing large-scale installations all over the United States.
Peter Gronquist is an artist who manipulates expectations throughout his various mediums. Through painting, sculpture and infinity mirrors he forces the viewer to stop and dismantle what they are experiencing. His infinity mirrors are built to human scale, heightening the sensation that one could fall in at any moment. The imagery contained in these visual abysses can be as benign as a flower or as menacing as a tool of war. the fading to black nature of the mirrors reminds the viewer that all things are temporary. Gronquist is concerned with expressing the contradictions of American consumerism and what he calls “hyper American culture”.
Joel Daniel Phillips is an American artist whose work focuses on the tenets of classical draftsmanship employed in monumental formats. Inspired by the depth and breadth of human experience, he strives to tell the personal and societal histories etched in the faces of those around him. Through the tip of his pencil, the artist seeks to find moments where our projected senses of self are transparent, allowing deeper, more truthful emotions to become visible.
Please join us at the CONTEXT Art Fair, booth #C115, opening to the public on Wednesday, December 5th and running through the weekend until December 9th. For more information or to receive an advance preview of the exhibiting work, please email us at info@hashimotocontemporary.com
